THE CITY OF THE AKYS: 1,000 villas delivered to reduce Senegal’s housing deficit

Bambilor, 10 September 2024 – Launched in 2015, the City of the Akys is a flagship project in the effort to reduce Senegal’s housing deficit. Driven by the bold ambition of Groupe Teyliom, this program to build 1,700 villas in the Bambilor area, at affordable prices ranging from CFA 9 million to CFA 30 million, aims to provide decent housing for households of all income categories.

Despite infrastructure challenges, particularly in the area of sanitation, the project has reached a crucial stage with the delivery of 1,000 villas. This is a significant milestone in the program, which is aiming for full completion in 2026. This success testifies to the developer’s determination to continue moving forward to meet the pressing need for housing, despite the technical constraints that have slowed its development.

‘The infrastructure challenges in this area have necessitated adjustments to our timetable, but this has in no way diminished our commitment to seeing this project through to completion,’ says the project manager. ‘We are working closely with the local authorities to find sustainable solutions to the sanitation problems.

Full delivery in 2026

With 1,000 villas already delivered, the City of the Akys is one step closer to its final target of 1,700 villas, scheduled for 2026.
